Island Philosophy:

This student-made floating island, located here on tropical Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, USA, in the far Western Pacific, will provide a microcosm of how all the necessities of life, including: fresh water, food, shelter, electricity, beauty and relaxation, can be produced in a single self-sustained, enclosed environment that can be easily implemented by our students when they return home.

The Center will also engage in specialized research for the development of new Green Technologies with the goal that they be:

1. Practical in various settings globally
2. Fairly inexpensive to install
3. Homebuilt where possible
4. And compatible with our planet’s real Green needs!

The Center is NOT a commercial enterprise. It is NOT a place for demonstrating or selling commercial items. Rather projects will be constructed by students, presented as educational displays for following students, documented in video, and used to teach folks worldwide. We also hope to eventually include multilingual instruction.

These are some of the teaching categories to be included:

1. Using recycled materials effectively

2. Construction of a floating “island” as a more effective way to bring the realities of Green thinking to students, who will then take these methods of advanced wisdom, back home with them for their personal and community use.

3. On this floating “Green Island” a variety of ways to produce a green environment will be demonstrated and taught, including:
   • Mechanical Wind Power
   • High Efficiency Electrostatic Wind Power Generation
   • Wave Power
   • Water distillation (at room temperature) and purification
   • Non-photovoltaic Solar Electric Power
   • Solar cooking
   • Island building, especially for areas to be affected by Global Warming
   • On-island self-sufficiency
   • Geodesic Dome design and construction
   • and, many of these and other items that can be accessed from this special website.

School Environment for Rapid and Effective Learning:

As a “Camp” Green Island will host special educational week-long, day-long, and even month-long "camps" whereby students coming to our school will be able to absorb Green Education over more reasonable periods of time (to be announced,) especially programmed to cover a maximum amount of valuable information in a short amount of time.

Video Production:

We also hope to produce DVD educational videos covering the various projects including specific “How To” information that can be applied elsewhere. Our goal is to spread Green Technology world wide, as quickly as possible.

Partners:

It is our hope to partner with a variety of schools, local hotels, enterprises, local Visitor's Authority, like-minded volunteer organizations, National Parks and philanthropists so as to grow awareness quickly, and give folks hands-on experience in technologies they will be able to implement themselves when they return home.

Cost:

A wide variety of educational systems and methods are to be used. Some will be inexpensive, some will have necessary expenses associated with them, others will be offered free. Like any school, tuitions will vary depending on the programs chosen by the students.

Organization:

The Center is NOT a commercial venture, it will be a strictly non-profit research and educational organization.

Spin-offs:

Green Technology may lead to the mass manufacturing or use of items that make such things possible and practical. The Center will provide for Technology Transfer as appropriate to assist in funding the Center’s continued expansion.

Eco-tourism:

Travelers are expected from all over the world as we become well known. This should encourage these ones to come, and at least, take-in our day-tripper education, by viewing our Green methods first hand, and through our DVD educational collection.
